During the first week of the school year, Miss V asked her freshman English students to choose an “Intention word” that they felt represented who they are, what is important to them, or could give direction to their first year of high school. Next, the students chose a quote that tied in with the word they chose. Finally, the students chose a mission statement or a specific goal to move their intentions from abstract ideas to concrete realities.
We have begun hanging the pictures from our Intention project around the high school. Hopefully, the photographs will serve as a daily reminder of their goals, while also inspiring other students to build a more positive school community.
