Praising God Through Music
When reflecting on the presence of music in the lives of our students, we can do no better than to remember the words of the Psalmist: Sing praise to the Lord with the harp, alleluia, with the sound of music, alleluia!
At Grandville Calvin Christian Schools, we are blessed with over 170 students involved in high school band/choir/orchestra, over 150 students in our 5th-8th grade performing ensembles, and also provide a high quality music education to each of our elementary students in grades JK-5. Our music program is growing in both number and in spirit! We provide multiple performances each year including traditional concerts, community events, athletic events, church services, and school outreach.
Our ensembles receive superior ratings on a consistent basis at adjudicated festivals at both the district and state level, and many of our students participate in regional and state-level honors ensembles. Our department provides cultural and musical experiences through concert field trips and music tours. However, as is the case with the Fine Arts everywhere in our society, finding ways to maintain the program is a constant challenge. We need YOUR support in these areas:
• Scholarship Fund: providing partial and full scholarships for students wishing to attend music camps, honors auditions, and regional/state ensembles.
• Instrument and Uniform maintenance/repair: This is an ongoing expense as our ensembles continue to grow.
• Venues: Our school does not currently have a performance space, so we must rent auditorium space for many of our performances!
• Curriculum and Music Storage: Our growing ensembles mean our repertoire library has outgrown our current storage capabilities.
• Updating Instrument Storage: A dream is to incorporate new instrument storage spaces for our MS/HS musicians as our construction projects continue.
To support these and other projects, the GCCS Music Boosters has an ongoing Patron Drive. Patrons will have their names printed in concert programs for the 2025-2026 school year. Your gift—no matter how large or small—will assist students as they glorify God through music!
