Education Support Specialist
Having taught at four Christian schools prior to coming to GCS, I believe I have landed at one of the best! My work as a certified Reading Recovery teacher and Educational Support Specialist is challenging, gratifying, and rewarding. I work with amazing children and their families at a school that values early intervention and believes that all students can learn. It’s truly a joy and a blessing to be a part of this great community.
When I’m not at school, I enjoy reading and traveling ( which always includes several trips a year to my homeland of British Columbia ) and spending time with my husband, son and daughter-in-law, and our delightful granddaughter.
My alma mater is Calvin College, where I earned my undergraduate degree in English and Elementary Education; later, while teaching in the Los Angeles area, I earned a master’s degree in reading from California State University, Long Beach. After returning to Michigan, I obtained an endorsement in Learning Disabilities from Calvin College.
A favorite verse that speaks to me is Micah 6:8. “ And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”
