Education Support Instructor
When I was a child, I wanted to be an explorer when I grew up. Traveling with my family and living in places like Australia and Alaska allowed me to explore more than just geography. My parents encouraged me to research the history, culture, and literature of each place. My love for learning was born. As an adult, I want to pass on that love of learning to others.
After graduating from Trinity Christian College with a BA in Elementary Education and a minor in ESL, I taught English, history, and math to 5th graders at Lenawee Christian School and to 6th-8th graders at Sherwood Park (Grand Rapids Public Schools). I have also worked as an Academic Coach with Calvin College’s Entrada program.
My work with Entrada students, along with proofreading for Moody Publishers and my experiences as the mother of two college students, has enabled me to support seniors in the ESS program as they write their college essays and resumes. As an ESS Instructor, I also support all 9th-12th grade students in the ESS program as they explore content and find study skills that work for them. My goal is to guide students as they develop skills and knowledge that will help them be successful in high school, college/job training, and their careers.
