I graduated from Calvin College in 2000 with a BA in Spanish and Religion & Theology. After graduating, I taught Spanish and Bible at Rehoboth Christian High School in NM for two years before moving overseas. I spent seven years working in missions, primarily in China. During that time I studied Chinese, which was an experience that significantly shaped my approach to language instruction. After returning to Michigan, I taught Spanish at Byron Center Christian Middle School for seven years before joining the staff at CCHS in 2018.
God has put a deep love in my heart for people, languages and cultures. I’m also passionate about discipleship, prayer and missions. These things fuel my passion in the classroom! I have lived in Europe, Latin America and Asia. God has used those experiences to teach me to open my heart to what is foreign, to embrace what is different and to respond to God’s call to welcome and learn from others. I love encouraging students to do the same!
My husband and I have four children that attend GCCS. We love adventuring together whether overseas, to a new state or camping here in the beautiful state of Michigan. I also love cooking, hiking, gardening and spending time with my family.
