I am very excited to be joining the GCS community this year in 4th grade Spanish immersion. After graduating from Cornerstone University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Language Arts and TESOL, I spent my first four years teaching at Chandler Woods Charter Academy in Belmont as a fourth grade teacher.
I developed a passion for learning Spanish during my college years and stopped at nothing to place myself in immersion experiences: living in Mexico for a summer, studying in Costa Rica, traveling to Guatemala, and most recently, returning to Mexico from 2012-2015 to teach preK-6th graders in a children’s shelter outside Guadalajara.
When not teaching, I LOVE to read, play the piano or guitar, mountain bike, be outside, play beach volleyball, write, and spend time with friends and family (especially my niece and nephews J)! I am also currently finishing up my master’s degree in Instruction and Curriculum with an emphasis in Educational Differentiation through GVSU.
One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 26:3-4: You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal.
