I have the wonderful privilege of teaching Language Arts at Calvin Christian Middle School. I have a passion for sharing God’s gift of language with middle school students, and it is an honor to come alongside students during this exciting time in their lives as they grow and develop their gifts. Encouraging students to become lifelong learners, thinkers, writers, readers, and followers of Christ is a calling that I embrace with joy every day! I am very blessed to be a part of this Calvin Christian Community!
I graduated from Calvin College in 2009 and am working toward my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Calvin as well. God has blessed me with a wonderful husband, Kristopher, who coaches cross country at Kalamazoo College and track at Grand Rapids Christian. We live on the Northwest side of Grand Rapids with our crazy dog, Ellis, and our cat, Minna. In my spare time I love reading, gardening, traveling, outdoor adventures, board games, crossword puzzles, and making music. Kristopher and I are both involved with working with young people at our church, Oakdale Park CRC.
A Bible passage that has been powerful in my life is from Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians in Ephesians 3: “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! ”
