Inclusion Aide

After graduating from Calvin College with degrees in English and Communications, I decided to teach English in China for a year before heading to graduate school. What started as a year turned into thirty-one years.  China became my home — a place where I met my husband Keith and where we raised our four children. Besides teaching at the Xinjiang Teacher’s College, I also tutored groups of graduate students and young moms, and homeschooled my children.  In 2008, Keith and I opened Rendezvous Cafe where we served western food, cakes, and coffees to not only local Chinese patrons, but also to a diverse international crowd from countries such as Pakistan, India, Kazakhstan, and Saudi Arabia. In February of this year, our visa application for working in China was rejected by the Chinese government leading us to resettle in the States.  I am thankful for the opportunity to work in the inclusion program and pray that each student would “grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ”
