Kim Schutte
My position involves teaching 7th grade math to a small group, co-teaching in some math and language arts classes as well as coordinating the after-school tutoring program (CAST). This requires me to wear many different hats, but my favorite part of wearing each of these hats is the opportunity to always be working with young people, whether it is helping an individual or group of students be successful academically, challenging them spiritually, or listening to a story a student wants to share.
Christian education has been a vital part of my own education background. I believe christian education prepares students to not only learn about the Word of God, but it helps develop a worldview that is based on the Word of God. A christian education is truly a blessing to receive and be a part of.
I received God’s call on my life to work with students in the educational setting two years after graduating from high school. My journey has been very adventurous. Beginning my college journey at Reformed Bible College (Kuyper College) for two years, I felt God moving me to Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois for two and half years, and completing my Bachelors of Arts degree in Education. After college, I taught briefly at Andrew High School in Illinois. The following summer I was married to my wonderful, godly husband, Rod Schutte, who is a pastor. We served at West Side Reformed Church, and I taught at Calvary Academy in Illinois. Later, we moved to Michigan to serve a new church, and I taught at Jenison Middle School part-time and coached basketball until we had our first son, Aaron. Then, I started my career as a stay home mom adding 4 more children to our family, homeschool teacher, basketball coach (4 yrs.), and track coach (14 yrs.) in Northwest Iowa. Later, I began working at Sioux Center elementary school full-time in the Educational Support Services and tutoring until we were called to serve at Faith Community Church in Wyoming, Michigan. I subbed at Calvin Christian School and coached varsity girls’ track for 2 years until I was hired into my current position at CCMS in 2009. I am very blessed to be a part of the staff. A favorite bible verse of mine is Isaiah 41:9b-10.
