Teaching has always felt like a calling for me. It all started when I was in second grade at Rosy Mound Elementary School. That year my teacher was out on maternity leave and I was blessed to have a great long-term substitute. Her name was Ms. Inso. While I do not remember much from second grade, I do know that from then on I had my mind set on becoming a teacher. Ms. Inso did not do any one thing to make me remember her, but I do remember that while she was there she made learning fun. She brought enthusiasm and excitement into the classroom through each lesson and she was always smiling. My hope is that each one of my students will grow to love learning and serving in their kindergarten year.
I graduated from GVSU in 2003 and began teaching for the Grand Rapids Public Schools the following year. I worked at both Congress and Stocking Elementary schools as a bilingual/ESL kindergarten teacher. I left GRPS after 13 years for a part time position. That year I began teaching ½ day Spanish immersion kindergarten here at GCS. My experience working with English language learners for so long in Grand Rapids helped prepare me to teach Spanish to native English speakers. I feel blessed to be a part of the great community here at GCCS!
