I have the unique story that I have been a teacher at Calvin Christian two different times. I began my teaching career here at Calvin and remained on staff for six years. I then had a nine year stay at Holland Christian. In 2010 I felt a strong calling by God to return to CCHS. I have been teaching mathematics and serving as the registrar since my return to CCHS. It is wonderful to have a career where I am confident God wants me to be and where I can use the gifts He has given me to serve others. I am excited to be here to prepare students to see the gifts God has given them, develop their gifts, and begin to see where God is calling them to use their gifts in the future.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from Calvin College and my master’s degree from Grand Valley State University. Currently at Calvin Christian I teach mathematics at the high school and serve as registrar for grades six through twelve. I have also had roles as both the girls and boys varsity swim coach, head of chapel committee, and student council advisor.
My wife Becci and I were married in 1999. We have three children. I enjoy watching and participating in many different sports – especially soccer and swimming. I am often involved in various activities at our church. In addition, I spend some time as an adjunct instructor at Davenport University.
A verse that gives direction to my life is Colossians 3:17, “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” It is great reminder that every moment of our lives is to bring glory to God and to praise Him for his amazing blessings to us.
