I graduated from Hope College in 2009 with a B.A. in Chemistry and teaching endorsements in Chemistry and Mathematics. That summer, God unveiled his humorous side and led me to attend Calvin College (which was difficult for a Flying Dutchman). At Calvin, I received by Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have spent time teaching science at Holland Christian Schools and Otsego Public Schools. I have been here at GCCS since the 2018-2019 school year.
Currently I live in Jenison, MI with my wife Grace and our daughter Alaina. We attend Fellowship Reformed Church. Outside of school, I enjoy attending sporting events and concerts, reading a good book, cooking, and learning about new things.
Having the opportunity to teach and lead in Christian schools has given me a new perspective on the importance of allowing Christ to be at the center of all we do. In my science course, I strive daily to help students appreciate the complex details that God used to create us and the world, along with the important relationship we must play in it. As a principal, I want our students to experience a Christ-like environment where those relationships are fostered each day with others, and where they have an opportunity to be challenged and develop their God-given gifts.
Each day, with God’s help, I try to live out my favorite verse, Micah 6:8- Seek Justice, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly.
