God has led me to Calvin Christian Middle School and High School as the Support and Transition Counselor. I will be responsible for grades 6-10. God has given me the heart for adolescents who are struggling emotionally and academically. One area of counseling that I strongly believe is important is to teach adolescents how to cope with stress and anxiety in a healthy manner. I look forward to supporting students by referencing scripture and encouraging students to spend time with the Lord.
In 2013, I graduated from Hope College with my Bachelor’s in Psychology. I received my Master’s of Education in School Counseling from Grand Valley State University.
When I am not at school, I love spending time with my husband, Austin, and my two dogs, Lake and Tahoe. In addition, I love being with friends and family, fixing and decorating our 1927 house, reading, gardening, yoga, being by Lake Michigan, and enjoying some gluten free pizza. In the summer, I volunteer at the Equest Therapeutic Riding Center where I am able to enjoy my love for working with kids with disabilities and my love for horses.
My favorite verses:
“Be Still and, know that I am God”-Psalm 46:10
“I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” John 15:5
“Every good and perfect gift is from above…”-James 1:17
“God’s greatest gifts come through great pain”- Streams in the Desert Devotional
