I completed my bachelor’s at Calvin College after which I worked and taught at a girls’ shelter in Merida, Mexico for a year and a half. Upon returning, I began substitute teaching and directing an after-school LOOP program while also developing an adult ESL program at our church with my soon-to-be-husband, the pastor of our Hispanic ministry. After that, I spent the next five years working at Southwest Community Campus teaching middle school science and social studies while also working towards my masters in bilingual education at Aquinas College. My husband and I have two boys and love spending time together as a family. In my free time I enjoy competing in races, painting, reading, traveling, doing anything musical and staying involved in our church.
