Anna Marie Adema
Music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Having the honor and privilege of helping others grown in its appreciation, craft, development, enjoyment, performance, and ultimately love and worship of God through it is my heart, joy, and prayer; I truly believe this is God’s call for me and I do not take it lightly. God has graciously provided me with many opportunities and means through the years to grow and develop as a pianist, accompanist, vocalist, choir member, church choir director, as well as private, group, and classroom instructor.
I grew up in South Carolina, but left the warmth of the South to major in English, Music (with a concentration in Vocal Performance), and Theatre at Calvin College. Since then, I have worked in areas as diverse as accounting, administrative assistance, newsletter publication, and church secretary to my longest commitment (15+ years) of worship coordinating and leading at the inner-city church which I have attend since college, and where I met my husband, Nate, who is also blessed to work, minister, and serve in God’s kingdom here at GCCS.
I was officially hired by GCCS in the fall of 2014, most specifically to help with the middle school and high school choirs. I also oversee the accounting aspects of the music students’ tour fundraising along with other administrative details and responsibilities specific to the music department.
God has blessed me with a wonderful husband and three treasures for children. He has also filled me with a huge desire and passion to see prayer mobilized, helping people of all ages become not only people who pray but people of prayer– men, women, and children after God’s own heart. The life verse God laid on my heart during my own high school years directly connects to transformational prayer: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is– his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 (NIV) I pray this not just for myself, but for all believers in my sphere of influence. I am on a lifelong journey of daily asking God to renew my mind, so that I can at all times live in His truth and with the complete peace of Christ that passes all understanding. May He guide and guard you and yours.
