2024 Summer Camps
June
Boys Basketball Summer Camp:
This camp is led by Calvin Christian’s boys varsity coach Matt Veltema. The purpose of this camp is to teach and practice the fundamentals of basketball for successful individual and team play while also demonstrating the values of Christian character. Combining station drills, games, team contests, competitions, individual instruction, and staff lectures, our campers will have the proper understanding of the game of basketball.
Squires Sports Camp (Week #1):
A day camp that provides a safe environment for kids to enjoy some good old-fashioned summer fun. This camp has an organized and relaxed atmosphere, yet it is also flexible and competitive! We have games and activities for all levels. Squires Sports Camp is led by our high school PE teacher Ben de Waal Malefyt. A typical day includes a variety of sports, games, and activities, such as kickball, wiffleball, soccer, basketball, capture the flag, kick the can, and more!
Girls Volleyball – Youth Camp:
The volleyball skills camp will be held for girls entering 2nd-8th grades. The camp will be taught by the high school volleyball coaches along with instructional help from the high school athletes. Through simplified drills, the camp will cover basic volleyball knowledge of all skills (passing, setting, serving, hitting and blocking) oriented to each age group.
Boys Volleyball:
The boys’ volleyball skills camp will be held for boys entering 6th-12th grades. The camp will be taught by the girl’s high school varsity volleyball coach, Amanda Bremer, along with instructional help from other coaches in the volleyball program. Through simplified drills, the camp will cover basic volleyball knowledge of all skills (passing, setting, serving, hitting, and blocking) oriented to each age group.
Elementary Art Camp:
Does your child love to create art? In this camp, we will explore a different art medium each day (pencil, acrylic, watercolor, and chalk) while learning techniques and creating art!

Combining station drills, games, team contests, competitions, individual instruction, and staff lectures, our campers will have the proper understanding of the game of basketball. A t-shirt is included.
Girls Volleyball – High School Camp:
The high school camp will be held for girls entering 9th-12th grades. Taught by Calvin Christian varsity volleyball head coach Amanda Bremer, each camp day will include conditioning, jump training, GRIT drills (mental toughness), and team play.

July / August
This co-ed tennis camp will be a fun week of tennis with boys’ varsity tennis coach Nate Zylstra. Boys and girls entering grades 3rd-9th are welcome to join. This is a great opportunity for the participants to explore their talent and learn the game of tennis under the guidance of high school players and varsity coach Nate Zylstra.
Soccer Skills:
This co-ed soccer camp will be taught by boys’ varsity coach Karel Malefyt and girls’ varsity coach Darren Collins. Each camp provides a friendly and supportive environment for all participants. The age-group camps allow for developmentally appropriate instruction with technical and tactical training, as well as match-play. Each camp is held at the Calvin Christian Soccer complex located on Ivanrest near 44th St., just north of Fellowship Reformed Church.
Spontaneous Art:
Try your hand at hard-to-control media that allows for more instantaneous results: painting, printmaking, pouring and marbling. Students will make three projects to take home.
3-D Art:
Investigate different forms of sculpture using additive, subtractive, and bas-relief techniques. Clay, paper mache, and carving will be explored.
