Music

The GCCS Music Department is committed to developing confident, creative, and skilled Christian musicians. We also aim to honor our Creator God as we explore artistry and beauty,   continually striving for excellence and seeking opportunities to serve our community. Members of our performing ensembles acquire skills necessary for the 21st century workplace including discipline, communication, cooperation, creativity, problem-solving, accountability, and teamwork.

Our Music Curriculum

Opportunities for experiencing music at GCCS begin at the elementary school level with weekly general music classes. Instrumental ensembles (band and orchestra) begin in 5th grade, and choral ensembles are available in middle school. Additionally, our middle school students are exposed to a variety of musical genres through exploratory classes at the 7th-8th grade level.

Our high school course offerings include the following performing ensembles:

  • Concert Band
  • Symphonic Band
  • Pep Band
  • Orchestra
  • Varsity Choir
  • Concert Choir
  • Honors Choir

Supporting our Loving, Learning, and Serving school mission, we aim to share the gifts we have been given with those around us. Because of this we present many concerts and programs throughout the year in all grades (k-12). Highlights for our ensembles include participation in community events, as well as our semi-annual tour to New York City with our top high school performing ensembles.

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.” –Psalm 100:1-5
